Pam Touschner, FAIA finished her term as AIA California Council President 2007

The following is an excerpt of her Farewell Address:
I am very proud of our continued efforts on the IPD front, in particular our collaboration with National on the publication of the IPD: A Guide, our advancement of sustainability issues, and our unquestioned advocacy efforts. After this year, I have a new outlook on what makes a good leader. I was confident, at the beginning of this year, of one thing … that leaders are not born, they are made. While I believe this to be true, I now realize there is so much more to great leadership:
1) Great Leaders listen more than they talk. To lead you need to be able to follow.
2) Great Leaders are creative thinkers.
3) Great Leaders make decisions using values, not rules and polices. Leadership is doing right when no one is looking.
4) Great Leaders empower others to be great.
I hope you realize that each of us has the potential to be a leader in our community. I encourage you to become involved, to share your talents and experience the rewards of being engaged in your community.

WWCOT takes great pride in announcing that Pam Touschner has been elevated to Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects.
Advancement to the College of Fellows is one of the highest honors a member can receive from the profession.
